Daniel A Gallucci , VRHS Class of 1952

RENSSELAER - Daniel A. Gallucci, 86, of Rensselaer, NY, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021.

He was a life-long resident of Rensselaer, born on October 20, 1934 to the late Marco and Maria Gallucci.

Daniel was a hard-working man, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard and began working for Greyhound when he was 17 years old. He started as a baggage clerk, moved up to ticket agent, and was working as a dispatcher when he retired after 37 years. After retiring, he worked as a Grounds Supervisor for Hudson Valley Community College, where he became lovingly known as "Poppy Dan" to all of the children in the college's daycare programs. Following his second retirement from HVCC, Daniel became a regular volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, where he once again was known as "Poppy Dan" to those who worked or came to stay at the house. He volunteered there for ten years and it brought him so much joy.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a life-long parishioner at the Church of St. Joseph/St. John in Rensselaer, where he served for many years. In his spare time, Daniel enjoyed the simple things - time in the backyard with his family, listening to music, and being with his wife of 67 years, Bernice, who was the love of his life.

Daniel will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Bernice Brown Gallucci; children: Mark (Rebecca), Steven, Tami (Brian) Bulnes, and Daniela (Bob) Malinowski. He is forever "Poppy Dan" to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Daniel's name to either of the following charities:
