Edward J Kellman , VRHS Class of 1951

East Greenbush- Edward J. Kellman, age 91, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at Ellis Hospital, in Schenectady. He was born in Albany to the late Joseph and Frances (Potaski) Kellman.

Edward served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. Following his honorable discharge, he came home and began a career as a truck driver that lasted over 40 years. Ed enjoyed day trips with his wife to the casino and was looking forward to playing poker at the Saratoga casino one more time. He was an avid bowler; bowling in several various leagues. He cherished his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Many summers were spent at the Jersey shore or camping, where they made fond memories.

Edward is now reunited in heaven with his wife, Phyllis Ann (Palmer) Kellman to celebrate their 60th anniversary this year. Father of Edward (Kim) Kellman and Cindy (Jeff) Handford. Grandfather of Travis Kellman, Krysten Kellman, Joseph Handford, Jake Kellman and Jaime Handford-Nelson. Great grandfather of Isabella, Jeffrey Paul, II, Katherine, Abigale and Ella. Brother of the late, Betty, John, Joe and Vincent. Ed was the last of his generation.

Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rensselaer Boys and Girls Club 544 Broadway, Rensselaer, NY 12144.

He will be dearly missed and will be remembered for his friendly smile and sense of humor, so raise a cold glass of Coors- Light and cheers to Ed's memory.
