Olive "Olly" Champine , VRHS Class of 1945

ALBANY - Olly Champine died peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, in Albany.
She was born on April 2, 1927, in Albany to the late Ethel (Douty) and Glenn Champine and grew up in Rensselaer. She graduated from Van Rensselaer High School and attended Albany Business College. Olly was employed by Huyck Felt Corporation in Rensselaer for more than 40 years. After leaving Huyck Felt Corporation, she was employed by Home and City Savings Bank, Rensselaer County Department of Social Services, and the N.Y.S. Unified Court System.
Olly is survived by her daughter, Susan Carusone; grandchildren, Claudia Carusone, Leonard Carusone Jr. (Jodie), Liza Cline (Benjamin), and Joseph Carusone (Sadrina Burney); great-grandchildren, Kailee Carusone (Paula Dowling), John Hobb (Blake), and Colton Carusone; nephew, Anthony Bisio Jr. and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Olly was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Glenna Bisio and Anthony Bisio Sr.; her son-in-law, Leonard Carusone Sr.; and her grandson, James Carusone.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the Teresian House Center for the Elderly. We truly appreciate Kelli Hawver's time and effort during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic which allowed Olly the gift of regularly scheduled video calls with her family when visitors were restricted from entering the facility. We also thank the dedicated staff on the second floor A wing for treating Olly with empathy and kindness as her disease progressed over this past year, with gratitude for Shy's special relationship with Olly.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
