Cheryl Lynch , VRHS Class of 1962

NORTH GREENBUSH, NY - Lynch, Cheryl A. (Granny), North Greenbush, NY. On Thursday, February 22, 2024, Cheryl Lynch passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her family. Cheryl was born on October 7, 1944 in Rensselear, NY the daughter of Dave and Evelyn Lynch. Taking boat rides on the family boat with her father was one of the highlights of her childhood.

Cheryl grew up in Rensselaer where she attended grade school and Van Rensselaer High School. There she enjoyed cheerleading and took great pleasure in reminiscing about being the Queen of the Senior Prom. Cheryl stayed in touch with her high school friends and was very fond of being part of Alumni meet ups and lunches. Cheryl worked at the Public Service Commission in downtown Albany as an analyst where she retired after more than 20 years of service.

Gran was an avid reader and found great interest in current events. She was a devoted and loyal fan of the Yankees, the British Royal family, the Bee Gees, and Kay's Pizza on Burden Lake. If she was following the news, an event, sports, or one of her favorite celebrities, you could bet she had all the information and latest developments as well as her opinion on what would or could happen next.

Animals offered great love and companionship to Cheryl. She was predeceased by her cherished DJ. Charlie, Winston, Wesley, and Ernie will forever miss her pets and special treats.

Gran's family was everything to her. She enjoyed any and all moments with us, from trips abroad to Europe with Evelyn and her family to our annual vacations to Cape Cod, and Lake George. Gran loved being on the water, especially Lake George, and most especially on Doug's boat. When a boat excursion was in the works, you could be sure to find Gran close to shore, well before anyone else, shaking her leg, quietly awaiting the trip. She loved a sunny day, blue skies, and going just slow enough to take it all in.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved daughter Evelyn (Doug) Liddle of Syracuse, NY and son, James (Maggie) Burns Jr. of North Greenbush, NY. Cheryl's grandchildren, the "sweeties", Madeline and Sydney Kaye and great granddaughter Vivienne Kaye, step daughter Paige (Kevin) Secord, and great grandson Wesley will forever miss their Granny who cherished them and loved them most of all. We will all dearly miss Gran's quiet wisdom, intelligence, great humor, and love.

Our family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff in the Emergency Room and the ICU at Albany Medical Center for the care, compassion, and guidance they gave to Cheryl and our family.
