Henry O Hermance , VRHS Class of 1945

Hermance, Henry O. RENSSELAER Henry O. Hermance, age 87 years, of Rensselaer passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Albany Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Rensselaer and has been a lifelong resident of the city. He was a graduate of Van Rensselaer Junior/Senior High School. Henry was employed by Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer for 45 years as a computer programmer. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Henry coached little league in Rensselaer and loved bowling, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, stamp collecting and was an avid reader. He was an avid New York Yankees baseball and New York Giants football fan and played men's softball.

Son of the late Henry B. and Marie Schreiner Hermance; husband of 66 years to Shirley A. Hamm Hermance of Rensselaer; father of Gail Hermance of Rensselaer and Stephen Hermance of Latham; father-in-law of Penny Hermance of East Chatham; grandfather of Abigail (Mike) Slatterly and Sarah (Sal) Roblez; brother of the late Margie Bloomer; uncle of Kenneth (Liz) Bloomer, Kelly (Mark Cusack) Hamm and George (Gabby) Hamm, Jr. Also survived by three great-grandsons.

Funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Bloomingrove Cemetery, Defreestville.
